Walkers Shortbread Lighting Project

Lighting Case Study
Walkers Shortbread

Walkers Shortbread PDF

Overview

Best-loved for their signature shortbread, Walkers is, besides domestic success, one of Scotland's largest food exporters.

Kellwood's lighting consultants collaborated with a local supply-chain specialist to design and supply an intelligent warehouse lighting solution that supported Walkers' continued drive toward safer and more sustainable operations.

Challenges

High racking and inefficient light levels were causing problems for Walkers staff in locating produce and working in their stores for extended periods. Finding a light system that generated adequate lux at ground levels but didn't dazzle forklift drivers had proved very difficult.

Solution

Kellwood's Aisle Series 200W linear high bay was trialled and selected ahead of six other alternative products. Precision optics and integrated intelligent controls featuring occupancy sensors and multi-step dimming proved to be a winning combination.
