Vivergo Fuels Lighting Project

Lighting Case Study
Bio-Fuel Hazardous Area

Vivergo Lighting PDF

Overview

Built in 2012 near Hull, Vivergo Fuels is a £350M plant producing two high-value commodities which historically have been imported into the UK.

Vivergo Fuels are now one of Europe’s largest bioethanol producers and the UK’s primary supplier of animal feeds. Kellwood was tasked with providing an explosion-proof lighting system for a new vapour combustion unit being built on-site.

Solution

Kellwood’s design team specified Group II, Zone I, ATEX-rated units throughout the project area.

Ultra-efficient, Trevithick Series, universal bulkheads were applied to all access paths and lower-level circulation areas. Oblong light patterns ensured minimum power waste.

Wide-dispersion, Rankine Series bay and floodlight fittings were installed on the two-tier monitoring platforms.

Kellwood’s lighting ranges are built to last. Our ATEX products’ Osram’s Oslon SSL chips are forecast to provide Vivergo Fuels’ staff with over 120,000 hours of maintenance-free illumination.
